Our Food Safety Policy

Our Food Safety Policy was developed with the aim of focussing our minds on food safety at all times. Now it is part of everything we do, from choosing our suppliers to training our restaurant crews. We’re proud that our standards are high and everyone at McDonald’s is committed to keeping them that way.

Food Safety Programmes

We’re pleased to say that we lead the way when it comes to food safety. The cornerstone of food safety in our restaurants in Ireland and at our suppliers is the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points Programme (HACCP), which is recognised all over the world as the best system for preventing food safety problems.

Food Safety Audits

Our food safety systems and procedures begin on the farm and they follow our supply chain right through to you our customer.

We carry out audits:

  • On the farm
  • At the abattoir
  • At all our production facilities including some indirect suppliers
  • And at all our restaurants, where we conduct daily product safety checks to make sure that everything is up to our high standards

Suppliers

We’re very careful with whom we do business. We only work with suppliers who operate in an ethical way and who guarantee us that they will meet our safety and corporate responsibility requirements.

McDonald’s Quality Assurance Team

The people who work on our dedicated Quality Assurance team in Munich spend their time discovering better ways to monitor food safety throughout the entire McDonald’s food chain, including our restaurants.
We have our own local Quality Assurance Team here in Ireland to make sure that all recommendations of the European Team are followed to the letter.

Food Safety and Hygiene Training

Our employees begin their training in food safety and hygiene from the first day they start work in our restaurants.

We have an in-house trainer who is registered to deliver the Environmental Health Officers Association Primary Course in Food Hygiene to all our managers and crew.

This is an officially recognised course which equips our managers to ensure that your McDonald’s experience is always a safe one.
